What to do with a Wheat Berry.

Whole Wheat Pilaf:
  • 2 Cups whole wheat, wash several times then
  • Add 6 Cups of cold water, let stand in cool place for 24 hours
  • Cook in crock-pot for 10-12 hours then
  • Melt ¼ lb butter in a skillet and
  • Add 1 large onion, chopped fine
  • Simmer for 30 minutes, do NOT brown
  • Add to wheat and cook for 2 more hours
Makes a lot, very tasty and keeps in freezer well.
You can freeze it in portions and add it to casseroles with, or instead of, meat.
